Trauma Activation (3)

 

Trauma Criteria Level 3:

Potential Level 3 Alert criteria include:

 

  1. Ejection from automobile without level 1 or Level II criteria
  2. Death of a person in the same passenger compartment (no other injuries)
  3. Vehicle rollover
  4. Motorcycle or moped crash > 20 mph and NO other Level 1 or Level 2 injuries.
  5. Active bleeding requiring a tourniquet or uncontrolled hemorrhage if injury is distal to the elbow and/or knee
  6. A trauma patient with any of the following co-morbidities should be considered:
    • Age >55 years with significant mechanism of injury
    • Extrication time > 20 minutes
    • Cardiac or respiratory disease
    • Insulin dependent diabetes
    • cirrhosis
    • Morbid obesity
    • Pregnancy
    • Immunosuppressed patients
    • Patient with bleeding disorder
    • Patients on anticoagulants

 

Evidence of Poor Perfusion:

  • skin pallor
  • cool Extremities
  • weak distal pulses
  • cyanosis/mottling, etc.
