Lidocaine

 

INDICATIONS:

 

  • Pain management for IO insertion
  • Cardiac Arrest

 

DOSAGE:

 

ADULT:

 

  • 40 mg (2 mL) 2% slow injection; may repeat up to 60 mg (3 mL)
  • 1 mg/kg IV/IO; for persistent V-fib/V-tach after max Amiodarone dose given

 

PEDIATRIC:

 

  • 0.5 mg/kg (Max single dose 20 mg) 2% slow injection; may repeat up to a total of 40 mg

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

 

  • Allergy to –caine- drugs

 

SIDE EFFECTS:

 

  • Hypotension, decreased LOC, irritability, muscle twitching, eventually seizures
