Morphine Sulfate

 

Indications:

 

  • AMI
  • Severe pain in selected situations

 

Contraindications:

 

  • Head Injury
  • Hypotension
  • Asthma
  • Respiratory Depression
  • Undiagnosed abdominal pain

 

Side Effects:

 

  • Respiratory Depression
  • Hypotension
  • Bradycardia
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting

 

Adult Dose:

 

  • Initial dose 0.1 mg/kg slow IV/IO/IM; max 5 mg single dose.
  • May repeat once to a max of 10 mg
  • Further doses require Medical Direction

 

Pediatric:

 

  • 0.1 mg/kg slow IV/IO/IM; maximum single dose 5 mg
